When both the parents of the child are working, they normally have to depend on a well equipped child care for their child and it is the only practical solution in that kind of a situation. YMCA has been in the forefront various social and environmental activities around the world and lately they have decided to try in helping working parents by opening child care centers in various parts in the country. The Mahaska County YMCA has taken the initiative head on and started the Child Watch and drop-in child care programs in the county.
Since YMCA is looking at the child care as community activity than as a pure business, the cost associated with the child care for parents are also less. Drop-in child care programs for the licensed programs are only $5 per hour for infants to two-year-olds and $4 per hour for children ages three and up. YMCA planning to use these centers to help community members of better access to healthy living programs.
